4 Huge Melbourne Sporting Events in 2019

As we all get over our Australian Open hangovers for another year, it’s time to take a look ahead at the other sporting events coming to Melbourne throughout 2019.

NRL All Stars

15th February

For one night only, and for the first time ever, the Australian Indigenous All-Stars will take on the New Zealand Maori Kiwis in a blockbuster game of NRL.

Kicking off at AAMI Park, the event is billed as ‘a marriage of cultures, history and community on the field’, and is a must for Melbourne footy fans. Find out more here.

Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix

14th – 17th March

If your thing is watching the fastest cars in the world compete for the ultimate title, and you’ll be in Melbourne this March – you’re in luck!

With special on- and off-track events, entertainment and of course the big race, the 2019 Formula 1 Grand Prix is set to be the biggest yet. Check out all the details on the website.

Boomers vs USA Basketball

22nd & 24th August

Are you a fan of NBA, NBL or just basketball in general? You won’t want to miss the biggest Melbourne sporting event of the year – a showdown between some of the biggest names in world basketball.

Spring Racing Carnival

31st August – 24th November

As well as the end of a chilly Melbourne winter, September marks the beginning of the annual Spring Racing Carnival.

With a whole host of races and events leading up to the Melbourne Cup in November, the Carnival always draws a crowd of sporting fans and socialites alike. See the official site for more details.
